It's 72 degrees in Boston today and we can feel the fall weather creeping in! The chance to cuddle up with a good book and a hot cup of tea makes this our favorite season. Read on for suggestions on which blends pair best with some of this year's BTAF titles!
Here to Stay: White Chai
White tea is known amongst tea fans as the most subtle of the varieties, tending towards a quiet flavor. Like Bijan from Here to Stay, it sometimes fades into the background. However, the punch of chai pushes this tea into focus, and the warm blend will make you smile just as much as this heartfelt, challenging, and funny story. Try it here.
Shadowsong: Blackberry Sage Black Tea
Nothing goes with Shadowsong’s dark, romantic narrative like the aromatic bite of black tea paired with lush blackberry and subtle sage. With earthy notes that’ll take you straight to the Underground, this tea lets you face the darkness with focus and determination. Try it here.
Furyborn: Hibiscus Marigold Maté Tea
An action-packed adventure like Furyborn calls for a tea that’ll wake you up and help you hit the ground running. With layers of tart hibiscus and subtle marigold, this blood-red tea weaves together an unlikely pair like Furyborn’s queens fighting across millennia. Try it here.
A Room Away From the Wolves: Rose Flowering Tea
A narrative with this many layers deserves a tea with just as much hidden potential. That’s where flowering tea comes in--made by bundling together tea leaves and flowers, this tea “blooms” when doused in hot water, releasing floral and earthy notes. Get yourself a tea that unfurls as beautifully and unexpectedly as this gorgeous gothic mystery. Try it here.
It's probably safe to say we've all had at least one book cover that stopped us in our tracks with its radiant beauty. This weekend we were inspired to try to capture that feeling via makeup! Now you too can walk with confidence knowing your eye shadow and lipstick match some striking book covers.
Would you try these bold looks? Tell us about a time that you decided to match a book cover! Which book was it?
Uncharted by Erin Cashman
This book has a subtle elegance to it. I decided to forgo eyeliner and stick with just the sepia shadow since this strikes me as a quieter cover. But the pop of red in the dress made for perfect inspiration for a bold red lip, creating a standout element to compliment the subtly.
Brightly Burning by Alexa Donne
Talk about color--this cover is all vibrancy with the hues of pink and purple. I decided to capture the shades of violet in both the lip and eyeshadow, plus a hearty swoop of glitter across the lid to match the stars. The hot pink eyeliner is, well, a bit much for a day look, but this cover strikes me as an under-the-stars (or in the stars) affair as it is.
The Rising Gold by Gabe (Ava Jae)
Metallics! Black eyeliner! Drama! This look proves that maybe all that shimmers is gold. I decided to mimic the warm sky and the intruding darkness on my lids with a shadow gradient. The lip comes from the comet streaking across the sky, adding yet more fire to an already fiery cover.
Darius the Great is Not Okay by Adib Khorram
This cover is all about contrast--the blue and the orange make for a striking boldness, which I decided to translate into the aqua eyeliner and creamsicle shadow. I'm usually not a fan of orange lipstick, but for a standout cover like this, it seemed right.
